We've had a wonderful season
My little feathered friends
The morns are getting chilly now
So it's time for your flight again

I know you must be leaving soon
To follow after the sun
I'd love to go along with you
But you're the lucky one

Just fold your wings at night time
Where ever you happen to be
The Father is always watching
And no harm will come to thee

Tho' small you're not forgotten
And weak, be not afraid
For He will always care for all
The little birdies He made

I'll be thinking of you when
Winter winds begin to blow
As I keep the embers burning
I'll still be wishing I could go

I'll miss your cheerful singing
When comes the howling of the wind
But this season too will pass on by
Then you'll return again

I'll make it through the season
And be waiting for you here
I'll watch for your return in spring
Same place, same time, next year
