When peace fills my heart
it overflows into the hearts
of all for whom I love and care.
A season of peace, time to forgive
to forget hurt and sadness from this year past.
I think of friends and family with peace in my heart;
a wave of forgiveness washes over me.
We are all only human.
Rarely do we live up to another's expectations,
especially with no idea what they are.
Bitterness lodged in my heart
Obscures vision,
Old baggage from childhood,
May still be with me.
There is that which this year
I wish I had not done
That which I wish had not happened.
While I cannot correct the past
I can freshen the present
and clean the slate for the future.
I can forgive others and myself;
I can allow myself to acknowledge
they and I did the best we could,
regardless of results.
I let go and release old guilt and grievances
compassion floods my heart.
I hold there those I love and cherish
wishing them peace.
The light that is born in the darkness returns.
It brings life to the frozen ground;
As I fill my heart with peace
I prepare a place for the Light of Love.
I greet with joy the child
bringing the season of peace.
