Oh no, how could I soon forget
Why would I overlook the need,
When it's so imperative
To know just how to breathe.
How could I carry on like that,
Determined in my strength,
Trying so hard to fix the problem
That I'd go to any length.
Forgetting all about my Father,
The One who cares for me,
Neglecting to commit to Him
So He would meet my need.
How could I not cast all my care
On the One who holds it all,
When it only takes a simple cry
For Him to hear my call.
Then come to carry me, uplift,
As each breath I breathe as prayer,
In my heart, domestic, business cares
My spirit, soul He'll bear.
He may not take the burden
But reveal it as a special gift,
To drive me right into His heart
So in His strength I live.
Oh Lord, keep me from the blooper
Of struggling on alone,
As all I do, will always be for YOU
If my life is not my own.

Poetry from the Heart
Cast your burden on the Lord, what then?
Will He bear it, while I go free?
No, weary soul, not so yet says His Word:
He will sustain - not it - but thee.
The burden still is yours, it is your gift,
Bestowed by Him who knows your need;
But now the everlasting arms shall lift
And fold you close - and you shall rest indeed.
~H Durbanville~
Cast your burden on the Lord
and He shall sustain you.
