Seeds and the Garden ~ Marci Jamison ~ Living Each Day

Summer's here (well almost)! Our thoughts are turning to sunshine, playtime and new growth - gardening and lawn care. At some point this spring, seeds began to germinate so that new growth would burst through. Most of the work of germination cannot be seen; growth begins within the seed and in the soil. Much growing has occurred before a shoot emerges into the sunshine to provide us the beauty, food, shade, shelter...

We grow in our Christian lives in much the same way. Christ's work begins in our hearts and souls, Christ's love takes root in our lives and we emerge into the sunshine to share God's beauty, food, shade, shelter, grace and love with others. Congregations emerge in much the same way ~ our faith germinates as we center our hearts and souls in worship and then we go out of the doors and emerge into the "Son" shine to be Christ to the world.

Our growth does not happen by ourselves ~ God is a part, Christ is a part and the Spirit is a part of that growth. But another integral part of our growth is each other. We cannot be Christ's disciples without the support and nurture of one another. We cannot grow in faith without people to mentor us and tools to assist us.

We are all seeds, sprouting and growing in the "Son's" light. This is much to celebrate!!!
