When I was born
Recovering from my birth;
My mother had left me
I had no one on this earth.
There were some other babies
Maybe seven or eight;
We all laid there
Wondering about our fate.
Then one day
Came a lady and a lad;
They wanted a baby
He wanted to be a Dad.
Anticipating what they would see
They looked at all of us;
To my good fortune
They decided to pick me.
My Dad always showed me
How to love and to care;
Whenever I was down
He was always there.
There were many a day
He spent time with me;
Sometimes we would just talk
Sometimes we would play.
As the years went by
He raised me well;
And I knew he would back me
Just in case I fell.
Now he is dying
And I am so sad;
But, this I do know
He is the "Greatest Dad!"
