Dad, I looked way up to you
When I was just a little tot
You were my inspiration
My hero and my rock

I just had no idea
Of all the choices that you made
To be my great protector
The sacrifice you gave

I took all as it came
The caring from your heart
I never knew just what it took
Your courage to impart

And now that I have grown
Your shoes I could not fill
For walking high in grace and truth
I can't tell you how I feel

But I can say thank you
And live the love you bore
So all you've been and all you are
In me will ever walk
